- If you disable all protocols you disable you're modem. You can't
- make a 28.8 connection unless you use either vFC or v.34. What's more,
- that's presicely what vFC and v.34 DO.

- No you didn't. If you didn't use vFC or v.34, you didn't get a
- 28.8 connection. The "jerky game" is probably because of errors on the
- line. Try limiting you're connect speed to something lower then 28.8.
- Actualy, you could probably do just fine by disabling vFC and v.34 and
- making a 14.4 v.32bis connection instead (which should be plenty fast
- enough to run Doom).
